Did you have these growing up? My mom used to make them for us all of the time. This is a good meal to up leftover veggies, chicken or rice!
We haven’t had these in two years because I couldn’t find an EASY substitute for the Cream of Chicken soup. (I probably didn’t look very hard)
The other night I found an easy peasy recipe that I thought tasted great, found
here.
I’m so excited to start having these on a regular basis.
We love olives on our haystacks! Gotta have those!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried green peas? Don't even cook them...just take them out of the freezer, dump them in a colander, run hot water over them until they are thawed, and drain. They are my kids' favorite topping on haystacks.
Are chow mein noodles gf, or do you have a special kind you buy? It wouldn't be haystacks without the crunch of the chow mein noodles!
I haven't tried peas yet but I defiantly will next time!
ReplyDeleteI have not been able to find GF chow mein noodles. so we just do without.
Try some slivered almonds, Jess. Similar crunch &texture, I'll bet they would be really good. Spendier than chow mein noodles, but nice crunch...
