Kentucky Hot Brown Sliders

We celebrated Mother’s Day early with my Mother In Law last weekend, and Sweet Mama and I volunteered to cook so she didn’t have to worry about that.  We had decided to make funeral sandwiches since they are so delicious, crowd-pleasing, and easy to make ahead.  I had seen a recipe on Pinterest for these Kentucky hot brown sliders, and they looked a lot like our funeral sandwiches, so I decided to make my half from this recipe instead of our usual one.  They turned out really good.  Sweet Mama and I got compliments all day long about how good the sliders were!Kentucky hot brown sliders  Image courtesy and recipe adapted from The Seasoned Mom

Ham & Swiss Sliders (aka “Funeral Sandwiches”)

I ignored this recipe entirely the first several times I saw it on Pinterest, because I thought the whole idea of “marinating” a sandwiches was a recipe for soggy grossness.  But I just kept seeing people pinning them, so I decided to try them, and my entire family absolutely loves these little sandwiches.  They are even good leftover, so I usually make a double batch.

I like to add poppyseeds and dried minced onion to the marinade.  They add extra texture.

Hamburgers

It’s hamburger season!  - hamburgersPhoto courtesy The Jones Way

If you don’t have a hamburger press, invest in one!  It’s one of my favorite kitchen gadgets, and I’d hate to have to make burgers without one!
